The DP World Tour has confirmed six tournaments in the Gulf Cooperation Council region for its 2027 schedule, according to a report from the Emirates News Agency. This total represents the largest concentration of events the tour has allocated to GCC countries in any one season. The announcement was made as the tour outlined adjustments to accommodate the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland from September 17 to 19. Guy Kinnings, chief executive of the DP World Tour, noted that the 2027 lineup will include 17 national opens worldwide.
According to the DP World Tour, the complete 2027 schedule features a minimum of 42 tournaments spanning 24 different countries from late 2026 through November 2027. The season opener is set for Australia in November 2026 while the campaign concludes with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Adjustments include moving the Amgen Irish Open to July at The K Club and shifting the BMW PGA Championship to September 23-26 at Wentworth Club.
The GCC Statistical Centre data places the regional tourism sector’s total economic contribution at $254.7 billion in 2025, reflecting average annual growth of 7.3 percent since 2019. International tourist arrivals reached 75.7 million that year with inbound spending of approximately $131.9 billion, according to the same figures. Major sporting events including golf tournaments support this expansion by drawing high-value visitors to hospitality, retail and transport sectors across the bloc.
The six GCC stops include the Hero Dubai Desert Classic scheduled for January 21-24 at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, according to the published calendar. Other confirmed tournaments feature the Qatar Masters in Doha and additional events in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. These competitions form part of the Race to Dubai points race that determines the season-ending champion.
DP World Tour data shows the 2027 calendar incorporates returning national opens and maintains the Abu Dhabi Championship in early November followed by the season finale in Dubai. The events in the GCC have grown in stature over recent years with increased prize funds and participation from leading players. Such tournaments align with broader efforts to position the region as a year-round golf destination.
The Emirates News Agency reported that the six GCC tournaments underscore the tour’s commitment to the Middle East market. Local golf infrastructure has expanded to host these international fields with several venues meeting Rolex Series standards. The schedule also includes co-sanctioned events that integrate with partner tours for greater global reach.
