The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media has completed a promotional roadshow in India that engaged travel agents, tour operators and tourism companies to elevate the emirate’s profile as a destination offering cultural heritage, family experiences and quality hospitality. Running from August 30 to September 4, 2026, the programme included destination workshops, business-to-business meetings and targeted presentations across Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. The department used the platform to introduce the Ajman Partner Tourism Growth Incentive Programme, which provides performance-based rewards to eligible Indian partners for confirmed bookings made between September 15 and December 1.
According to a statement from the department, the incentive aims to encourage greater inclusion of Ajman in UAE-bound itineraries and stimulate demand during the campaign period. Mahmood Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media, said, “India represents a key market within Ajman’s strategy to diversify its international visitor base and strengthen its global tourism presence. Through this roadshow, we are deepening our engagement with travel and tourism partners and creating practical opportunities to translate growing interest in Ajman into increased visitation and sustainable tourism flows.” The director added that the strong engagement observed during the events underscores the market’s potential for sustained collaboration.
Department figures show that Indian visitors accounted for more than 10 percent of Ajman’s total arrivals in 2024, when the emirate welcomed approximately 68,000 travellers from the country out of 660,000 overall tourists. International visitors have since risen to represent 52 percent of all arrivals, reflecting the impact of marketing initiatives focused on key source markets including India. A review published by Arabian Business attributed this shift to years of investment in international campaigns and product diversification under the Ajman Vision 2030 plan.
The roadshow highlighted Ajman’s blend of heritage attractions, natural landscapes, modern accommodations and leisure options tailored to Indian traveller preferences. Through direct interactions, officials explored opportunities to co-create packages that combine Ajman with visits to other emirates, capitalising on established air connectivity and the large Indian expatriate community in the UAE. Data from the department indicates consistent growth in length of stay and repeat visitation from this demographic over recent years.
Similar promotional efforts have taken the department to Central and Eastern Europe and China in 2026, each designed to broaden partnerships and support the emirate’s goal of increasing its share of the global tourism market. First-quarter 2025 results showed a 3 percent rise in tourism revenue alongside improved hotel occupancy and an 11 percent increase in average length of stay, according to departmental records. These outcomes demonstrate the measurable effects of such targeted outreach activities.
The department continues to position Ajman as an accessible destination that complements the UAE’s wider tourism offerings while emphasising sustainability and authentic experiences. Alhashmi has reiterated that ongoing work with Indian trade partners remains essential to converting interest into actual visitor flows and long-term growth. The newly launched incentive programme will be monitored for its effectiveness in driving measurable increases in bookings from the Indian market.
