The UAE Olympic Committee convened the sessions through its technical and sports affairs department along with the sports medicine committee to align on key requirements for the major events ahead. According to the Emirates News Agency the discussions spanned the full 2026 calendar including the 20th Asian Games hosted by Aichi and Nagoya in Japan from September 19 to October 4 together with the fourth Youth Olympic Games scheduled for Dakar Senegal from October 31 to November 13. Attendees examined health and safety protocols anti-doping compliance and logistical needs to safeguard athletes and meet standards set by the Olympic Council of Asia.

Participants reviewed mandatory completion of the ADEL course for all involved athletes and delegation members in line with Asian Olympic Council stipulations. Lists of required vaccinations travel health measures and preventive anti-doping education formed central elements of the agenda that stretched across the two days at the end of June 2026. The National Anti-Doping Agency contributed expertise on testing procedures and awareness programs designed to uphold the highest standards of integrity.

The UAE has competed in every Asian Games since its debut in 1978 and has amassed a total of 60 medals across those editions with a record 20 medals captured at Hangzhou 2022 according to national sports records. Organisers have secured accommodation for more than 17,000 registered athletes and officials despite an entry surge that exceeded initial projections of 15,000 a Reuters report from August 28 2026 confirmed. The Games will feature competitors from all 45 Asian National Olympic Committees in what remains the continent’s premier multi-sport event.

Earlier coordination included the UAE National Olympic Committee’s participation in chefs de mission meetings held in September 2025 that addressed sports programs venues catering and support services for participating teams. Those gatherings aligned with the official one-year countdown to the September 19 2026 opening and were attended by senior Olympic Council of Asia officials the UAE NOC reported. Follow-up inspection visits to competition facilities in Nagoya Izu and Tokyo provided first-hand assessment of the infrastructure.

Parallel planning for the Dakar Youth Olympic Games received equal attention during the June meetings with emphasis on age-appropriate technical and medical preparations. Structured training camps and international competitions have been identified as vital steps to elevate performance levels in the lead-up to both events. Recent results from the Asian Beach Games in Sanya where the UAE finished seventh overall and first among Arab nations were cited as positive indicators of progress.

Board members led by Vice-President Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi reviewed governance reforms and Olympic Solidarity funding mechanisms to bolster long-term athlete development. The sessions also covered digital transformation initiatives aimed at streamlining administrative processes for national federations. Such measures form part of a wider framework to sustain competitive gains on the Asian and international stages.
