Bahraini club Al-Nassr has maintained a perfect record with victories in all matches played so far at the Al Ain International Youth Volleyball Tournament, WAM reported. The team’s strong start has stood out in a competition featuring six clubs from across the Gulf region that opened on August 30. Organisers have pointed to the event as an opportunity to showcase junior talent in the sport while fostering regional competition.

The championship runs through September 4 at the Khalifa bin Zayed Sports Hall in Al Ain, according to a WAM dispatch. It is organised by Al Ain Club under the patronage of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The UAE Volleyball Federation oversees technical aspects of the event while the host club manages operations and logistics, the news agency added.

Six teams are taking part in the tournament, WAM stated. They include the UAE’s Al Ain, Kuwait’s Al Qadsia and Burgan, Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Al Arabi, as well as Bahrain’s Al-Nassr. Early matches saw the Bahraini side face Qatar’s Al Rayyan while other fixtures paired Al Ain with Al Arabi and the two Kuwaiti clubs against each other.

The organising committee has confirmed that all logistical, technical and operational arrangements were completed prior to the start, a WAM report noted. These preparations covered venue readiness, team accommodations, refereeing, media coverage and facilities for spectators. Cash prizes for the top three finishing teams along with spectator draws and entertainment activities are planned to heighten interest throughout the week-long event.

Al-Nassr’s continued success comes as the competition advances toward its concluding stages, according to the Emirates News Agency. The tournament seeks to bolster Al Ain’s profile as a host for international sporting events and to promote sports tourism in the area. Further matches will determine final standings with the top teams set to receive recognition at the closing ceremony.
