The news was carried under the heading UAE leaders congratulate President of Uzbekistan on Independence Day. According to the Emirates News Agency President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory message to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan to mark the occasion. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai together with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Vice President Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court dispatched parallel messages to both Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

Such diplomatic gestures occur against a backdrop of rapidly expanding economic links between the two countries. United Nations COMTRADE data places UAE exports to Uzbekistan at 1.87 billion dollars in 2024 with electrical equipment machinery and vehicles forming the largest categories.

A session at the Tashkent International Investment Forum detailed a joint investment portfolio exceeding 20 billion dollars across about 100 projects. Trade turnover rose more than 50 percent by the close of 2025 to surpass 1.25 billion dollars while UAE investments into Uzbekistan alone reached 1.3 billion dollars in 2024 with over half channeled into energy. Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov described the surge as evidence of Emirati confidence in the country’s reform trajectory.

Major UAE firms such as Masdar Mubadala and DP World have joined ventures valued at nearly 4 billion dollars that are already operational in Uzbekistan. The count of UAE-funded enterprises there has expanded to 337 including more than 100 joint ventures a figure that has more than doubled since early 2021. These commercial developments rest on a strategic partnership agreement that has guided cooperation in renewable energy logistics and mining.

Uzbekistan observes its Independence Day on September 1 to recall its emergence as a sovereign state in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. High-level exchanges between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent have multiplied in recent years encompassing consular consultations sustainability week gatherings and talks on economic crime prevention. The latest messages arrive months after the UAE President conferred the First-Class Order of Independence on Uzbekistan’s ambassador in recognition of efforts to advance bilateral relations.

Discussions between the sides have also covered mining sector development and investment promotion with several agreements signed during reciprocal visits. Data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency indicated that bilateral trade turnover stood at 472 million dollars in the first nine months of 2024 a level that maintains the UAE among the Central Asian country’s top 20 trading partners. The pattern of annual greetings therefore forms one visible element in a multifaceted partnership that spans political economic and cultural domains.
