Jamal Al Musharakh the UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva told the Human Rights Council that Iranian attacks persisting for 26 days had involved more than 2000 ballistic missiles cruise missiles and drones directed at critical civilian infrastructure including airports residential areas and other sites. According to the Emirates News Agency Al Musharakh described the campaign as systematic reckless behaviour that undermines the international order and threatens regional security as well as global energy supplies and supply chains. The representative rejected Iranian claims that the strikes were retaliatory and noted the UAE had clearly stated it would not allow its territory to be used for any military action against Iran.
The Emirates News Agency reported that the attacks resulted in the loss of three members of the UAE armed forces along with six civilian deaths and injuries to 166 people from 29 nationalities. Al Musharakh speaking to the council highlighted the contradiction between Iran’s rhetoric of good neighbourliness and its targeting of civilian locations such as ports oil facilities tourist sites power stations and homes. The representative affirmed the UAE’s categorical rejection of any pretexts offered to justify these actions.
A historic United Nations Security Council resolution 2817 condemned the Iranian attacks on the UAE other Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan in the strongest terms according to the statement carried by the Emirates News Agency. Al Musharakh noted that the resolution was co-sponsored by 136 UN member states sending a clear signal that the international community will not tolerate assaults on sovereignty or deliberate targeting of civilians and infrastructure. The resolution followed the UAE’s diplomatic efforts to bring the matter before the council.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closed the UAE embassy in Tehran withdrawn its diplomatic mission and summoned the Iranian ambassador to deliver a formal protest note the Emirates News Agency stated. Reem Al Hashimy Minister of State for International Cooperation reviewed the developments in a government meeting and reiterated that the UAE retains its full right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Al Hashimy expressed appreciation for international solidarity and stressed the country’s balanced approach of restraint combined with firm defence of its territory.
Separate statements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried by the Emirates News Agency extended the condemnation to Iranian strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain that formed part of the same escalation. An unprovoked attack on a Kuwaiti military camp injured 10 members of its armed forces while a strike on Bahrain killed a Moroccan civilian contractor working with UAE forces and wounded five others. The UAE expressed full solidarity with both countries and support for all measures to safeguard their security and stability.
The UAE has called for an immediate halt to all attacks and urged the United Nations and international partners to prevent recurrence while pursuing diplomatic solutions grounded in good neighbourliness the Emirates News Agency reported. Al Musharakh emphasised that the assaults on civilian and critical sites cannot be overlooked and represent a dangerous threat to broader stability. The government continues to manage the situation through strategic measured responses focused on de-escalation without compromising its sovereign rights.
