Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, described Emirati Women’s Day as a symbol of pride and progress in a statement reported by the Emirates News Agency. The Ruler emphasized Emirati women’s status as partners alongside men in the country’s development journey and highlighted their role as a source of positive citizenship. The comments came as the UAE marked the annual occasion on August 28 with nationwide activities that extend through September 28.

WAM reported that this year’s celebration unfolds under the theme We Emerge Stronger and Better, which serves as a platform for launching initiatives, recognizing accomplishments and spotlighting inspiring role models. The month-long program reflects the nation’s ambition to build upon existing gains while pursuing further advancements in women’s participation across all fields. Officials have tied the observance to the broader Year of the Family, which underscores connections between family well-being and societal progress.

Figures from WAM place women in 50 percent of Federal National Council seats and around 63 percent of government-sector leadership positions. The UAE secured first place regionally in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2025 and second globally for women’s parliamentary representation according to the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking. These statistics illustrate the scale of female involvement in decision-making bodies at both federal and local levels.

The Ruler expressed appreciation for the work of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the Mother of the Nation, in advancing women’s potential through the General Women’s Union and related institutions. Sheikh Humaid noted that development of national capabilities, especially for women, stems from forward-looking policies that enable equal participation in science, technology, health and innovation sectors. His remarks align with similar statements from other UAE leaders on the occasion.

Emirati Women’s Day traces its origins to the 1975 establishment of the General Women’s Union, with the annual date formalized in 2015 to honor ongoing contributions. The current theme builds on previous observances by focusing on sustained progress and collaborative efforts between women and men. Events throughout the month will feature success stories from various industries where Emirati women have assumed prominent roles.

Ministers including Sana Suhail have described the occasion as an affirmation of the national ecosystem that integrates roles to advance development goals. Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, pointed to women’s active presence in diverse development fields as a source of societal strength. Such assessments from government officials reinforce the day’s focus on both past achievements and future aspirations.
