The ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2026 will feature 10 associate teams from across Asia competing in a 50-over format for the title and direct entry to the 2027 Men’s Asia Cup, according to Sporting News. The United Arab Emirates, winners of the 2024 edition, have been drawn in Group B with Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Singapore. Matches get underway this weekend at two venues in Malaysia with the final scheduled for September 12.

ESPNcricinfo’s published schedule shows the UAE opening against Qatar on August 31 before facing Kuwait on September 3, Singapore on September 6 and Oman on September 8, all at 9:30 am local time. The games will be split between Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur and YSD UKM Oval in Bangi. A top finish in the group will advance the side to the knockout stage that includes semifinals on September 10 and a third-place playoff on the final day.

The tournament follows the 2024 event in which the UAE defeated Oman by 55 runs in the final to claim their first title, ESPNcricinfo records indicate. Nepal had won the 2023 edition while the current competition returns to the longer format after the 2024 T20I version. Recent warm-up results, including Nepal’s dominant victory over Malaysia on August 25, underline the competitive standard expected across both groups.

According to the Asian Cricket Council, the Premier Cup serves as the highest-level competition for associate members in the region and forms a key part of the qualification pathway to major tournaments. Ten teams split into two groups of five will each play four group matches with the top two from each advancing. This structure ensures that consistent performers secure continental exposure.

The Emirates News Agency reported that the UAE’s participation underscores the country’s ongoing investment in elevating its cricket standards across formats. Squad selection has focused on balancing experienced campaigners with younger talents who featured in recent matches against Nepal and Oman. UAE officials have emphasised preparation for the high-stakes environment in Malaysia.

Historical performance data from prior editions places the UAE among the strongest associate sides, with consistent semifinal or better appearances since the tournament’s inception in 2023. The event also follows the recent ACC Men’s Challenger Cup in Singapore where Malaysia and Singapore advanced to this premier level. Live streaming arrangements by Dafanews will make all matches available to audiences throughout Asia.
