The Emirates News Agency reported that as the countdown to the 22nd edition of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition enters its final stages, Dubai stands ready to welcome thousands of humanitarian leaders, policymakers and experts from around the world. Held under the theme Humanitarianism in Transition: Shaping the Future of Humanitarian Action, the event arrives at a time of increasingly complex global crises that demand fresh approaches to collaboration and response. DIHAD 2026 will serve as a platform for participants to assess forces reshaping the humanitarian sector while exploring innovative models of partnership and leadership that can deliver sustainable impact.

Organisers indicated that more than 21000 participants from 165 countries are expected to attend DIHAD 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, building on momentum from prior gatherings. The previous edition welcomed more than 20745 attendees along with 1078 participating entities and partners from over 160 countries, according to event records. More than 320 renowned speakers are set to feature across an extensive programme of sessions and workshops that will address emerging operational realities.

A WAM assessment found that the conference will bring together representatives from government authorities, international and non-governmental organisations, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, foundations, charities, academic institutions, the private sector and media outlets. These diverse stakeholders will examine practical pathways for converting dialogue into tangible outcomes amid rapidly changing global needs. The gathering seeks to foster deeper understanding of current challenges while inspiring collaborative solutions that enhance sector-wide innovation.

Event data places DIHAD among the world’s leading forums dedicated to humanitarian aid and development, with a track record of facilitating high-level exchanges on sector priorities. Organisers stated that this year’s focus on a humanitarian reset will probe implications for workers and institutions operating in an evolving landscape of crises and opportunities. Discussions will highlight the need for humanitarian action that proves more anticipatory, inclusive and effective in addressing both immediate emergencies and long-term development goals.

Previous DIHAD figures show the event has consistently expanded its reach, with the 2025 edition featuring more than 200 humanitarian speakers across 64 sessions and 197 workshops that drove meaningful exchanges. The 2026 programme will continue this trajectory by identifying barriers to progress and promoting breakthroughs in how aid is delivered worldwide. Such gatherings have become essential venues for aligning international efforts at a time when traditional models face mounting pressure from geopolitical shifts and resource constraints.

The Emirates News Agency noted that DIHAD 2026 will encourage participants to strengthen cooperation across the humanitarian ecosystem and to advance initiatives that place innovation at the centre of future responses. Global humanitarian leaders look to future of humanitarian action in Dubai ahead of DIHAD 2026 as the event prepares to translate shared knowledge into concrete advancements for vulnerable communities. This focus aligns with broader international recognition of the sector’s need to adapt swiftly to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
