Tadweer Group expanded its Our Sustainable Farms initiative with a campaign that combined direct community engagement and operational support to improve waste management across Abu Dhabi’s agricultural sector. The program ran from August 26 to October 31 2025 and exceeded its targets in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra through more than 2,170 visits to farms and barns, according to the company. Dedicated inspection and awareness teams delivered practical guidance on waste segregation, green waste handling and the reduction of harmful practices such as burning agricultural residue during those months.

The campaign reached more than 6,340 agricultural workers while additional outreach included over 40,560 SMS messages and 4,390 WhatsApp communications that extended the messaging to a wider network of farm owners and employees, Tadweer Group figures show. Abdelwahed Juma said the effort connected communication with tangible action to make sustainable practices more accessible. In a statement Juma added that the recognition reflects team dedication together with collaboration involving government partners, farm owners and agricultural workers.

This recognition at the GovMedia Awards 2026 in Singapore marks Tadweer Group’s second consecutive win in the competition that honours public sector projects across Asia and the Middle East with measurable community impact. The award cited the initiative’s success in translating awareness into improved waste handling routines at farm level. Juma noted that the program reinforces the company’s ambition to serve as a national model for the circular economy.

The expansion supports Tadweer Group’s target of diverting 80 percent of Abu Dhabi’s municipal solid waste away from landfills by 2031. In November 2025 the company partnered with Masdar to develop a facility converting approximately 500,000 tons of biomass and urban solid waste per year into sustainable aviation fuel, a joint announcement stated. That project further advances waste-to-resource chains and national net zero objectives.

Tadweer Group has also joined the UAE’s first Food Loss and Waste Study while pursuing a national goal to reduce food loss and waste by 50 percent by 2030, according to company statements on LinkedIn. Earlier collaboration with Silal Group produced sustainable farms workshops that brought farmers together to share knowledge on best practices. These combined activities form part of broader efforts to embed circular principles within Abu Dhabi’s farming communities.
