The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has signed Emirati racer Mansoor Al Mansoori to the Team Abu Dhabi Formula One powerboat squad for the world championship round to be held in Kyrgyzstan. Following a thorough review of his performance in the lower formula, team officials determined that the promotion would serve as both a reward for his dedication and a platform to evaluate his F1 potential. The move aligns with the club’s strategy of nurturing local talent within its powerboat racing programme.

This will be the first time the UIM F1H2O World Championship visits Central Asia, with racing set for Lake Issyk-Kul from July 31 to August 2. Organisers described the venue as the Pearl of Kyrgyzstan, citing its deep blue waters and surrounding mountain ranges that create a dramatic setting for the high-speed boats. The event will also be contested at 1,607 metres above sea level, the highest elevation ever for a championship round, introducing distinct atmospheric conditions for competitors.

Al Mansoori previously secured ninth position in the 2021 UIM F2 Powerboat World Championship while racing for Team Abu Dhabi, championship records show. His steady advancement through the ranks has positioned him as a strong candidate for the step up to the premier class. In its announcement, the marine sports club emphasised that the driver’s commitment and visible improvement were key factors in the selection process.

Final preparations for the Kyrgyzstan grand prix are advancing rapidly, according to the series advance programme released in June. Participants will conduct their first on-water tests during the afternoon session on July 31 before official practice and qualifying begin. The high altitude is anticipated to require specific engine tuning and physical preparation from all teams involved.

The 2026 championship calendar, confirmed by the UIM in April, positioned the Kyrgyzstan round immediately after the May opener in Cagliari, Italy. Events in Shanghai, Jeddah and an additional Middle East venue will follow before the season finale in Sharjah, calendar details indicate. The addition of Kyrgyzstan reflects the sport’s growing international reach and interest in new territories.

Team Abu Dhabi enters the event with a proven history of success in the F1H2O series, having claimed multiple drivers’ and teams’ titles over the past decade. Mansoor Al Mansoori will join established drivers in the squad, providing depth as the season progresses through its remaining stops. Data from previous seasons places the team among the consistent frontrunners whenever it fields competitive entries.
