The Emirates News Agency reported that UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory message to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on the occasion of the July 23 Revolution anniversary. Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan also dispatched similar messages. The communications expressed wishes for further advancement and prosperity for Egypt and its people while highlighting the solid bilateral relationship.

The July 23 Revolution anniversary commemorates the 1952 coup that ended monarchical rule in Egypt. According to Britannica, the Free Officers Movement led by figures including Gamal Abdel Nasser toppled King Farouk on that date. This event resulted in the declaration of the republic the following year and set the stage for significant political changes in the country and the broader region.

These annual messages of congratulations underscore the close ties between the UAE and Egypt. The UAE Ministry of Economy has identified the UAE as the top Arab investor in Egypt and the third largest investor worldwide. A 2025 analysis from the Observer Research Foundation placed bilateral trade at nearly $7 billion in 2023.

Cooperation has expanded into major joint projects in recent times. The Ras Al Hikma development agreement represents the largest foreign direct investment in Egypt’s history, the UAE Ministry of Economy stated. Both nations are working to deepen collaboration in areas including industry, transportation and the circular economy through ongoing ministerial engagements.

The strong partnership is built on shared interests and mutual support at various levels. Coordination between the two countries extends to regional stability efforts as well. Leaders from both sides have met frequently to discuss ways to enhance cooperation across multiple fields.

Egypt continues to celebrate the revolution as a foundational moment in its modern history. Historical records indicate that the 1952 events led to the end of British influence and the beginning of the Nasser era. The UAE’s consistent recognition of the day reflects the depth of diplomatic relations established over more than five decades.
