DP World said in a statement that the collaborative effort with its partners had completed two humanitarian relief flights carrying emergency supplies from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to Caracas. The operation coordinated logistics management, cargo processing and aircraft capacity to ensure rapid delivery of items identified as urgent needs in the disaster zone. Air Cargo Hub Punta Cana, developed jointly by DP World and Grupo Puntacana, played a central role in facilitating the movement of relief goods, according to the company’s announcement.

The cargo comprised medical equipment, medicine, infant care products, hydration beverages, canned food and rescue supplies, the statement detailed. Grupo Velutini, working with Athiopica, handled collection, sorting and consolidation of the donated materials at a center established in BlueMall. UniWorld Air Cargo provided the planes that completed the shipments, demonstrating coordinated private sector support for the affected population.

Manuel Martínez, CEO of DP World’s operations in the Dominican Republic, said in the statement, “At DP World, we believe logistics is about more than moving cargo — it is about connecting people and supporting communities, particularly when it matters most.” Martínez added that by working alongside partners the company leveraged its infrastructure and expertise to deliver supplies quickly and efficiently. He expressed gratitude to UniWorld Air Cargo, Grupo Velutini and Athiopica for their participation in the humanitarian operation.

Luis Emilio Velutini, CEO of Grupo Velutini, stated that his organization rose to the occasion by managing every stage from collection through repackaging with the help of dozens of volunteers. “This effort was only possible thanks to the dedication of dozens of volunteers and the work of Athiopica, which ensured that the aid reached those who needed it most,” Velutini said. Romen González, CEO of UniWorld Air Cargo, noted in the announcement that air cargo operators carry a responsibility to serve communities facing emergencies.

Two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude struck north-central Venezuela on June 24, 2026, causing widespread destruction especially in Caracas and the coastal state of La Guaira where the majority of buildings collapsed in some areas. Venezuelan authorities have put the death toll at more than 5,000 with over 16,000 injured, according to reports by Al Jazeera and the Associated Press. The disasters also left tens of thousands missing and prompted a national state of emergency as aftershocks continued to complicate rescue and recovery operations.

The DP World-led airlift forms part of a broader international response that has included substantial pledges from multiple countries and organizations. The United States mobilized $150 million in aid including contributions to United Nations programs while dispatching military assets for logistics and medical support, Reuters reported. Russia delivered an initial shipment of tents, food and medicines with health specialists, and the United Nations activated a logistics working group under the World Food Programme to coordinate access and information sharing across affected regions.
