The sports complex at Al Qasimia University has drawn significant interest from students seeking to make productive use of their summer holiday. A report from Sharjah24 detailed how the array of activities promotes healthy lifestyles while integrating academic achievement with regular physical exercise. Programmes cater to participants from multiple nationalities in an environment that supports overall development. The turnout reflects growing demand for structured recreational options during the break period.

The facility opened in April and features a multi-purpose sports hall, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a fitness gym and a recreational hall. These elements support numerous athletic pursuits across the university community. The addition reinforces a broader culture of health and wellbeing at the institution. Such infrastructure provides students with access to modern training resources year-round.

Summer sessions cover intensive swimming instruction, strength and endurance exercises, football matches and games of basketball, volleyball and badminton along with martial arts practice. Qualified coaches oversee all activities while maintaining the highest safety and security standards throughout the premises. This professional supervision allows participants to train confidently in their chosen disciplines. The variety ensures options suitable for different skill levels and preferences.

Al Qasimia University Chancellor Dr Awad Al Khalaf stated that the level of sporting activity at the new complex mirrors the vision of Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for a fully integrated university setting. In remarks carried by Sharjah24, Al Khalaf added that the summer programmes give students of varying nationalities full access to the facilities within a safe and organised framework that helps build personal abilities. He noted the positive effect on the overall quality of university experience. The chancellor linked physical development directly to academic and personal growth objectives.

Assistant Chancellor for Female Students Affairs Ahlam Bin Jarsh highlighted the robust participation rates as confirmation of the value in offering balanced programmes throughout the vacation. Bin Jarsh explained that the complex creates opportunities for constructive engagement while building cooperation, discipline and team spirit among those involved. She described the activities as combining purposeful recreation with targeted skills enhancement. The official stressed the role of such initiatives in supporting student wellbeing during extended breaks.

The university effort forms part of wider national initiatives to involve youth in sports and skill-building during the summer months. According to a WAM report, the Ministry of Education launched its Exceptional Sporting Summer camp for jiu-jitsu and swimming on July 6 with sessions continuing until August 6 to foster physical abilities and healthy routines. Abu Dhabi is simultaneously hosting the fifth edition of its Summer Sports programme at the ADNEC Centre through August 23 featuring 29 sports and more than 365 community activities, a separate Emirates News Agency assessment found. These coordinated programmes seek to uncover emerging talent while embedding active lifestyles among younger residents across the UAE.
